Probably going to head out to Australia around September/October time but going alone and only 18 - Just wondered if there's many people closer to my age doing a similar sort of thing....most people on these forums are more mid 20's

Jake :)

You saying we're old? lol nah you should totally do it! I wish I done it much earlier, and I'm 26!

Haha, No :) It's just i cant imagine 'oldies' will want to hang out with me....which is fair enough, i wouldn't want to take a 12 year old with me :)

An 18 year old is a bit different to a 12 year old! Although I'm 26, I still want to live like I was 18! Best year of my life so far! Hoping Oz will top it!

I should imagine all back packers are fairly like minded. You have a common interest of traveling and trying new things.

To me, I don't care who you are, where you come from, what race you are, how old you are, so long as your not a total prick, I'm cool with everyone, and that's what most back packers will be like.

Yea it is quite 'daunting' (seems to be the key word here), but do what I'm doing, find out who's gonna be near you when u get there and get making friends early. I'm doing Ultimate Oz on the week starting the 10th September, and I'm already talking to 5 other people who are doing Ultimate Oz as well. One might even be getting on the same flight as me, which has made me feel a lot better traveling by myself.

Sorry for the rambling on but I hope this puts your mind at ease! If you want anymore advice on anything, feel free to message me!

Cheers, i guess that does make me feel a bit better....i like to think im not a total prick, but who knows :)

The ultimate Oz thing does look pretty amazing but probably a bit expensive for me, i think i'm just going to have to sort it out myself, unless i work loads over the summer and raise more money.

That's what I'm doing! Not spending any money this summer!

Hey Dale,

I'll be turning 19 out there too so that should be a pretty good birthday :)

I've saved up 3000 at the moment, hoping to make that 4 by the time I leave, maye even a bit more.

I havnt really thought about where I'm starting or anything but I seems like everyone starts in Sydney so I guess that's what I'll do, but I'm not really botherd why I do as long as its a laugh.
What about you?

Jake

Ah nice one. Are you going for a working holiday or just few months?

Yeah I'll be starting out in Sydney as few friends/family out there but then will be heading off to other places, the east coast seems to be a popular route/
Yeah, I'm not fussed either man!
