Travel alone is not a good Idea but you can find some good friends if you travel alone, it's very brave decision to go all alone.

"... Travel alone is not a good Idea..."

=====================================

Huh?! MANY travellers are solo, no big deal.

Travelling alone is awesome and a lack of travel partners should never ever hold you back from your travel dreams.

You might like to read this thread on what other solo travellers have achieved. Enjoy!

All young people should travel alone at least once in their life. You need to learn how to take care of yourself. There's nothing sadder than a woman who stays in a bad relationship because she's afraid to rely on herself. If it seems too daunting to you, you should travel with a tour group or try one of those tours where you spend some time with a group of people and have the option of breaking away from the tour to do things on your own. A good one I've heard of is called Busabout. You pick a region you want to explore, then you take a bus with a bunch of other people and get off and on at will. You stay as long as you want in any place and when you are ready to move on, you go to the designated bus spot and get back on the bus. I ran into a bunch of girls doing this in Italy and they told me about it. If you make friends on the bus you can start traveling together. Sounded like a great idea to me!

There's a lot you can do to start planning for your adventure. You can sign up with organizations like Couchsurfers or Help exchange and invite travelers to come stay with you. This will give you an insight to other travelers and to hear their stories. You'll also be helping out other travelers that are alone. Maybe you'll also make lasting friendships and be offered a place to stay when you visit their countries.

You can start researching. Don't just ask the same ole same ole questions on a forums, dive in and start looking around. Where do you want to go? how will you get there? Whats the best time to go? All the information is out there on the internet, you just have to look.

By the time you have done all this, having someone to leave with will seem like a hindrance more than a bonus.

If you want to travel the whole world than you can travel with your family or friends. If no one has time to travel with with than you can travel alone.

Hi Emma
You posted this a long time ago so.I hope you've travelled now. I'm Irish and I've always wanted to travel since I was a tot. When I was your age its all I thought about but no one would come with me. I waited and waited and each year died a little more in Galway. I'm 36 now and travelled last year eventually, solo. People say its never to late. Although I'm glad I did it I feel I did wait too long. I'll go again though!

Leave while you can. I'm back here, 3 months temporarily but I'm already suffocating. I would say though have a plan, a job abroad or a back up plan. And stay gone. Lol. ✈ g'luck.
