Me and a few friends are off to the full moon party in thiland on the 30th of Oct. We are after advise on places to stay and what to do with out backpacks as we have been told it pretty bad for 'break in's'
Please help us, any advise is good advise :-)
There is a great option on accommodation top of this page. Select 'accommodation', choose 'Thailand', pick 'Koh Phangan', plug in your dates and see what is available. Pick your top 5 and then I would go over to 'tripadvisor'. Read the comments of those that have stayed there. This should help narrow the list to your top choices.
Let's be honest here. Cheap rooms have poor security. The locks will not keep anyone out who really wants in. All the staff have a key to your room as well. You cannot leave valuables in cheap rooms w/o worrying about theft IMO. What to do? Here are several suggestions.
1. Stay at the cheap place but use the safe or locked drawer at the front desk for your valuables (if available).
2. Upgrade your hotel choice to one that has room safes or a proper lock box behind the front desk.
3. Take everything worth stealing with you whenever you leave the room. Of course if that bag is stolen, your trip is not going to have a happy ending.
4. Make your bag difficult to steal or break into. Perhaps pac-safe is worth looking at. Good luck with your planning.
If I were heading to KP for a full moon party I would confirm with my preferred accom. that they had a safe or something similar to secure guests valuables (passport, credit card, cash etc). Once confirmed I'd then prebook a room to ensure I had a bed. As you would expect, rooms book out prior to the event.
Koh Phangan is a very nice place, there are some places in this world where you can live out your desert island dreams of palm trees and white sand beaches. so i think best place of full moon night party place. so lets go and enjoy!
