Hi All,
This is my first time posting here, so excuse me if i get anything wrong. Myself and my husband are planning to spend a year in South East Asia leaving at the end of November. Currently we are planning to spend December & Christmas in Goa, and then fly to Bangkok for the New Year. We then have till the middle of November 13 to work our way around SE Asia. I am having problems planning any sort of intinery. We love the rural, less commercialised side of things and are both complete beach bunnies, loving wildlife and all the natural world has to offer. So as much as possible having hot/ warm weather is really important. We are happy to experience the wet season also but are keen to avoid any coldness as much as possible. I have found various websites that give you information about "best time to travel" but they all seem to contradict themselves.

We are well aware that plans will change and i am by no means suggesting that i will be planning out every move for a year. But on the other hand we are having family and friends fly out to visit us at various times and it would be really good to have an idea where we will be when.

So does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone spent a year in SE Asia and if so would you share your intinery with me? Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Many Thanks
Nat

June to October is the monsoon season in SE Asia which can mean very heavy rain, day after day. Check the weather this year for some idea of what to expect next year at the same time.

However north Asia it's summer and it can be hot and dry.

Obviously India is cheap. Some other places like Thailand are but countries like Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, maybe South Korea are expensive.

You are going to have to look into visas too for extended stays in some countries.

Have you been to SE Asia before? It is not just hot, it is humid too which can make it uncomfortable. and it gets hotter and hotter from December to April.

Be careful of the Asian sun as it can roast your skin, not having the pollutants which filter the UV in the West.

I think Indonesia sounds good for you, lots of beaches but if you travel a bot you can find some that aren't touristy at all, also East Timor has many beaches and great diving but is completely off of the tourist trail. Phillipines also has great beaches
