Hey All,

Im leaving to travel RTW in June, and am planning to visit USA, Canada, England, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Greece, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.

I was hoping that someone would be able to give me some advice on the vaccinations that i will need before i leave, and how to go about getting them.

Cheers,
Chalkers

You don't need vaccinations - only in Thailand you might come accross some problems (dengue fever from mosquito bites). You have to pay an attention to hygiene there - wash hands and fruits, vegetables.

Quoting MASSAGEUK

MASSAGEUK is correct - no vaccinatins are required for any of the countires you are planning to visit. You doctor may recommend a flu shot since you are visiting parts of SE Asia, but that would be for precautionary measures only. The vaccine will not be effective against the newest strains. Insect repellent, containing 30-50% DEET and when used appropriately, will deter the mosquitoes and other biting insects.

Paying attention to personal hygeine is key. Most travellers here will say to carry baby-wipes, and better yet, a small container of the antibacterial handwashing solution that doesn't require water. When you do wash your hands, use soap whenever possible and have contact with the soap for at least 30 seconds - which is the least amount of time needed to kill ~90% of the bacteria. Be sure to get between the fingers and under your fingernails - places most people miss.

You may want to ask your physician about Hepatitis A & B vaccinations. Though not required, never a bad idea for travel anywhere in the world. They are a bit pricey in some countries but well worth the expense.

you might need a 'binge drinking' vaccination before you come to the UK. Not sure if they exist yet, but this is a common ailment, particularly amongst the locals of this place. People are most open to this on a friday and saturday night. 18-25 year olds are particularly vulnerable, but anyone can be affected by it, so beware. :)
