Hi people,

My name's Kazz and I'm new to the site, I plan on travelling to Europe around this time next year and wondering if anyone else is planning the same as maybe we can stay in touch and swap tips as we plan and save?

I posted a similar question in another forum and was more or less told to go away cos it's was too early but I need a year to get the money together, hope some of you are in the same boat as me :)

Hope to hear from you if you are :)

Thanks!

Hi Kazz. During you trip you can save some money if you stay in apartments instead of hotels. Now days, all type apartments offer all modern facilities with home like comfort for long & short term travelers. Si i suggest you to stay in apartments to save a lot of money. Good luck for you journey in advance.

Yeah I'm joined up to the couch surfing site which I think its a great idea, so I'm hoping accommodation will cost as little as possible :)

Do you know any other useful websites about staying in apartments?

Thanks for your advice! :)

It's never too early to plan. As soon as soon as you have some ideas, come back and ask some questions.

Some ideas for free accommodation:

For budget accommodation, try hostelbookers.

Hi Kazz,

I am planning a trip to Europe (and elsewhere) for Mid 2013. I'd be keen to see what you have planned. I am doing my research at the moment before I book anything but I am saving my butt off and probably over budgeting for everything, but I'd rather over budget than get stuck. I only just started looking at accommodation in the places that I know I want to go and I am still deciding on other places to go yet.
Couch surfing is something I am looking into but I am not relying on it and am budgeting for a worse (most expensive) scenario.

I am not always on the forum but would be could to keep in touch.

Hello Casey,

I'm thinking of leaving around August time, I was thinking of more of a summer trip but I'm not a huge fan of hot weather and would love to visit Sweden or Norway for the Northern Lights as it approaches winter. I'd like to start off in Barcelona as I've been there before and think it's a good way to re-familiarise myself with being in a different country etc. I'd also love to visit Italy, Greece, Amsterdam, Denmark and Germany but I don't have an exact route planned out as yet. I'm concentrating on putting money aside at the moment and finding odd jobs just to have a little extra money to put away :)

I'm on the couch surfing site but as you say it's only an option, I think your idea about over budgetting is a good one and I will probably do the same, which countries would you like to visit?

If you don't visit the site much feel free to send me a private message and I'll send you my email address :)

Thanks for getting back to me, hope to hear from you again soon!

Kazz

Thanks for the link Cyberia, I think that will come in very handy closer to the time! :)

Hi Kazz,

I want to visit alot of places, but as I am finding out I'm not sure how it works exactly with the visas etc, since I am from Australia because I do not intend to work while I am in Europe so I think that a working visa would be wasted in case I wanted to go back and actually live/ work in the UK one day.
So far the must go places on my list are:
UK/ Ireland
Spain
Portugal
Morocco
France
Turkey
Germany
Italy
Amsterdam (since a friend of mine will be living there when I plan to go)
I want to be going at the end of May (but I will be doing a month in Asia first) and then heading to Europe. I have no set time limit to be back home and like to go with the flow but I still need a lot of organising to do :P
Ill keep in touch anyway :)

Hi Kazz,

There's a lot of beautiful places that you can visit in Europe. The Dazzling city Paris should be included in the list of your travel destination. Its better to plan early so you wont mess up your tour. looking for a place to stay will never be a problem since cheap hotels can easily be found in the city.

I am definately hoping to travel Europe, have been looking at Interrailing as an option. But like many others money seems to be the problem. I am trying Au Pair-ing as this will allow me to live in a county and earn money at the same time.

I would love to go to Belgium, the Netherlands and many other places as possible.

Also.. I dont think its too early to be planning, its good to be organised :D
