I'll be flying into Bangkok next week and would like to get a traditional Thai massage (or twelve). I've seen what the guidebooks say. Anyone have a favorite massage place or any other recommendations or advice???

the best is to find one close to your accomodation - travelling to the other part of Bkk is not convenient.

In the Khaosan Rd there are 3 massage salons run by Pian (use to teach in Wat Pho) - one is off the KS rd in a small soi with a Buddy Beer Garden on the corner. The other on Soi Chana (behind the Wat Chana Songkram) and another just around on Phra Athit (by the river).

Good and cheap massage for locals (with a herbal shop downstairs) on Thanon Maharat by Wat Mahathat (close to the Grand Palace and National Museum).

Definalty Wat Po for the experience of it all. Wat Pho is a famous temple school in Bangkok where traditional massage techniques are taught.

And you can walk around the Wat and check out all the Buddhas after or before your massage.
