North America:

Best: a tie between Vancouver and Denver. Both airports are beautiful - Vancouver because of the log-cabin interior design, Denver because of the ability to see the mountains from almost every gate.

Worst: Chicago O'Hare. Every single time I fly through there now, a delay. It'd be a nice airport if they cut back on the number of flights so they could actually get some out on time. I mean, I like the neon lights in the tunnel where they play the tinkly "Fly the Friendly Skies" jingle.

Internationally:

I haven't been to that many international airports, but...

Best: Schipol, Amsterdam. Any airport that sells porn and has a casino is alright in my book.

Greg? Isn't it Detroit that has the tunnel with wavy lights and music?
(That really is a beautiful airport now that they are done with the construction)

I haven't been to Detroit since the reno, so I am not sure if they have something similar, but in Chicago there is a light show in one of the tunnels.

The Sky's the Limit is the 744' long kinetic neon sculpture designed by Michael Hayden, is located in the underground walkway between Concourses B and C in Terminal One.

It was featured in the video I’ll Be Missing You by Puff Daddy.

people from several countries who have been taken into cells and interrogated as terrorists etc, simple because the immigration didn't recognise the country name on the from of the passport and thought it was a made up country. And whilst i can accept that not every official will know of every country, you would have thought Norway, Belgium and Switzerland were all at least relatively well known and safe...

... but checking through it and repacking stuff into the wrong bags.

they should really send their emigration officers on the RTW before employing them

and why the customs are searchning the bags when you are LEAVING the usa? They really don't have enough job to do.

Detroit has one too, between the new Northwest A concourse and the B/C complex. I like the new terminal but you always end up having to change flights from the middle of one end to the middle of the other end, and the tram thing only stops at the ends and the middle. If that makes no sense, an example with made-up gate numbers: It stops at gates 1, 50 and 100, I always have to change planes from gate 25 to gate 75.

In 2 cases, they were only actually in transit from Europe to points in the rest of the Americas (i.e. only US soil was Miami airport). And as for why they search when your leaving, guessing as it's Miami it's a drugs search etc rather than actually customs

Changi in ssingapre is the bes but the one in Osaka(the new one on the man made island) is pretty amazing. I heard that it is the most expensive man made structure in the world(when it was completed).

I think DXB (Dubai, UAE) is the nicest airport I've ever seen.

Worst airport so far: Athens, Greece (the old domestic aiport)
