Yes well if it all works to plan we will be on Bondi at the same time.

Thats what im really thinking, im thinking of doing the Farm or the 3 onths stuff just after Sydney i need to get in before april cause of my visa and becuase im 30 so i have to do it before 31.

I have not thought about travelling out of OZ but wouldn't mind doing Fijji and thailand then dropping back into Sydney.

I'm taking a 3 year + career break, so wanting to do 2 yrs oz then new zealand but i have to come back and apply for the visa back in the UK.

So what happens on Bondi at Christmas?

I've come across a thing at 'Base' hostel, which is basically 7 nights accomm, including breakfast :) airport transfer, 12months with 'MyOzJob', bank account, sim, TFN, medicare and tax back, for $299. They also do free daily walks around Sydney and party bus etc like the other apckages. Seems a lot cheaper though so seriously thinking of doing that, and then doing RSA course and finding jobs myself. Only thing they don't do is the mail forwarding, but you can get that for $60 from Woodduck or $75 through Ultimate Oz.

Sounds like are plans are all very similar! Have you both booked flights yet?

Not booking flights until my house has sold and I have the capital, and also Visa is sorted (which they say don't book flights until that is done), just litterally checked and my application has been refered to Australia for further processing now. I do not know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

It does seem preety cheap, but what are you getting, i think you need to examine the stuff that is done during that 7 day week in comparison to the others. I will keep examining and see which package i might go for.

Fingers and toes crossed - october is not long now you know!

Hi all,

I have recently just booked my flights to OZ leaving LHR on oct 24th landing in Sydney on the 26th.

Like the rest of you i am also travelling alone, never done anything like this before and starting to feel nerves.

I booked through STA and they advised me on a tour that travels from sydney all the way upto cairnes stopping off at various beaches and destinations along the way. I think im going to book on to this as it would be a great way to meet new people and i wouldnt be on my own for the duration of my trip.

If anyone wants to meet up in Sydney that would be fab

STA is just trying to make more money; it's really easy to meet people along the way by yourself; there's no need to waste money on a tour.

Also, you should be aware of the wet season starting in the north of Australia come December (lasting through March), so if you want to do the east coast right after arriving in late October, then I strongly advice to immediately fly north to Cairns, and head south from there instead.

I will only be in Australia for 3 weeks, so hopefully will miss out on the wet weather.
the idea of my trip is to see if i like it enough to spend a year out there working.

Ah ok, then direction doesn't matter much, and you'll have much less time for getting to know fellow travellers, so never mind me. :)
I do think the entire east coast is a bit much for three weeks; might be better to focus on a smaller stretch so you can get a more in-depth impression of what things are like outside your bus.

The cost of the tour is roughly the same as what i wanted to spend plus its full of lots of exciting activities that im looking forward to.
I had my heart set of staying in the sydney harbour yha. Looked lovely and the view from the rooftop were to die for
Looks like its fully booked for the 2 nights that im in sydney.
Have you already been or going? Do you recommend anywhere?
