Hi everyone!

Ok, well myself and two others have book tickets to go to Dublin and Scotland for our Christmas and New Years break. We have decided to do the whole back packing experience but would really love some help seeing as how we never have before.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to do while we are here ( Dec 18-Jan 3). Places to go, pubs, and all. Also what are the best hostels to stay at? One of the guys wants to camp, so what about camping?

Any advice and all advice would be awesome! Also what is the weather going to be like? I have been looking but every website is so different.

Thanks!

The weather in Scotland I can pretty much guarantee will be freezing at that time of year!! And there is an extremely high chance that there will be snow, so I wouldn't recommend camping at all, you'll need somewhere with central heating. Unless you are very well prepared and have all things waterproof!!

Dublin is a great place, there will be a great atmosphere in almost any local pub, and the locals are likely to be very welcoming towards you :-). Dublin also has a Discover Ireland Centre, so whatever you want to do they will give you PLENTY of ideas.

Hope you have a lovely trip :-)

Where you can go will depend on the weather. Very cold and you can get about. Deep snow and it may be just as far as you can walk.

It would have been different had you booked say the Costa del Sol instead. Last Boxing Day I was on a long beach with just ten other people and it was like a summer's day.
