Well i have caved and booked myself with the OzIntro....obvs just don't need my bank account setting up. But it's good to know at the other side i won't be totally walking in to the unknown as there will be people there for the same thing and i have an idea of what i will be doing for the week.
After that week i'm not sure what to do? It doesn't start getting really warm until November time so i think i might work and then travel up the east coast! It's so hard to plan isn't it!!!
I have just been reading this thread and saw you set your own bank account up.
How did you go about it?
I would rather set my own up as some prices compnies are asking you to pay i may aswell do it myself if i can.
I went to ....http://www.westpac.com.au/personal-banking/moving-to-australia/migrant-banking/ and just filled in all the relevant forms....(really quick and easy) then they send you an email to say you have been accepted and they send you a welcome pack in the post. I then went in to my bank with the forms they sent me and got them to verify my ID - then i have sent them back out. So hopefully i should be getting my card through the post now...and then you can transfer money over to your Oz account to save so you don't touch it! There is also an E Saver account you can open when you do the other one which is good for saving (I should work for them, ha!)
Let me know if you need any more help

Hey guys, I'll be in Sydney from 19th November, on a WHV. I'm booked onto the ozintro for my first week, but no plans for after that. Would be sweet to still be in Sydney for xmas/new year, but money costs might prove difficult.
What's everyone's plans? Dale
