Thought I'd give a few of my choices for best beaches by state, and then see who agrees--or disagrees with these choices:
California--
Tough choice here--choosing among Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Carmel, Santa Barbara, Venice Beach, Laguna Beach and the beaches in San Diego (Ocean Beach and/or Mission Bay)--however, as a surprise to all of you--my choice is Zuma Beach--just a short ways north of Malibu
Texas--South Padre Island
Oregon--Coos Bay
Washington--Alki Beach (West Seattle)
Florida--South Beach is great--and Daytona or Key West are the favorite for many--and many like Clearwater Beach or Fort Myers Beach--but my choice is Captiva Beach on the west side of Florida
New Jersey--Wildwood is probably best, although Seaside Heights is also great
Delaware--Rehoboth Beach
New York--Montauk
Massachusetts--Crane Beach near Ipswich
South Carolina--Hilton Head Island beaches
North Carolina--haven't been to the beaches there, so I can't judge
Maryland--used to live there, but unfortunately there are no really great beaches--the best is probably Sandy Point or Terrapin Beach
Hawaii--on Maui, either Wailea Beach or Kaanapali Beach--on Oahu, Waikiki Beach--on Kauai, Poipu Beach--haven't been to the big island
Maine--haven't been to the beaches
Connecticut or Rhode Island--haven't found one worth mentioning
Arizona--Parker on the Colorado River
Utah--Bullfrog Junction on Lake Powell
Nevada--the artificial beach with a wavepool at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas--although for those who are single and looking to meet other people, it is tough to beat either the Hard Rock or The Palms.
What do you think?![]()
