The Flying Pig Downtown is the best hostel I've found in Amsterdam. Have been there a couple of times and the best place I have stayed in was the Pig. It has a website but I'm not sure of the address. Use a google search.

Hope you have a great time

I have to agree with dee, the flying pig downtown is good, centrally located ( 2 mins from train station, 10 mins from dam square and just a hop to the red light district) and a lot of fun. I have stayed there a couple of times and really enjoyed it.

hope you enjoy yourself.

If you want to have a good time Stadsdoelen Hostel is the place to go. I stayed there twice and I was never deceived. It is located near the Rembrantd Place which is a nice square with restaurants and coffee shop. Here are info:

Downtown Amsterdam, international, exciting
Stayokay Amsterdam Stadsdoelen is located in a stately canal house in the city centre. The busy hostel has an international atmosphere. Visitors from every corner of the earth meet up in the bar where a simple dinner is served in the evening. The rooms house 8 to 20 guests and you have a private locker where you can safely store your belongings. Stayokay Amsterdam Stadsdoelen is the perfect place for individual travellers.

Thanks for your help guys.

Ive booked the Flying Pig Downtown, it looks really central and the price was good

How much money did you spend when you were over there? Im going for 3 nights, and will be doing the usual, sightseeing, coffee shops, drinking

Thanks again for your help

If your drinking try having a few in the hostel as there is a great happy hour.

The canal trip is good and inexpensive. A lot of bars do happy hour and local beer is cheap enough. Avoid buying souvenirs - they are really expensive in Amsterdam. Trust me

There are great museums and you will find lots to do. Take a trip around on the trams for about an hour or so to get your bearings and see where you would like to go. It's not much fun when you get lost though - especially if you go too far out of town

I think the first time I stayed for 3 nights and spent about £250 but that was eating in really cheap places. The heinekein(sp)brewery tour was fun as was the Van gough museum.

A great nite out is the comedy club boom chicago. The canal tour is well worth it as it takes you to all the hot spots.

Hope you enjoy your trip.
