I have tried accessing the Live Chat a few times now and I keep getting the following message:
Connection failed! Maybe your network can't access the server, or the server is under maintenance, please try again later!
Do you think this is because I am trying to access it from work? I have accessed other live chat features on other websites without problems?
I believe it is your office network blocking, as this chatroom requires a "non-conventional" connection to the server. You usually connect to port 80 of a webserver to view webpages. This port is like a door. So you open door 80 to get the webpages to view. For the chatroom, it is available on port 55127. For security purposes, many company blocks its network of PCs from accessing ports other than port 80 because you only need to access port 80 of the server to view webpages.
I hope that doesn't confuse you.
Uhm, couldn't have said it better myself.... that's probably the reason. Pete knows more about the chat area than i do in all honesty
That's pretty much right on the money there. I believe I can set it up to run on port 80, but last time I tried, it proved trickier than I thought. Sorry about the inconvenience.
That's ok...I think there is more than enough to keep me occupied with the forums! If not then I'll have to 'do a Wocca' and start some deep and meaningful threads!
Thanks for the help
