Where should one travel to most enjoy oneself?

So I planned to go to Brisbane in October but now I have heard many people say that its a bit pooh - for want of a better word. Where in blazes should I go that is maybe a tad cheaper and also had lots of women playing beach volleyball alot?

Where are you going and why? I am gonna have alot of money to spend but don't want to touch it so I will be working for about 6 months out of the 12 I will be there. I don't fancy living in a city though, think it would be a bit too much for a burbs rat like meself.

Any advice would be lovely as I still haven't booked my flights so just shoppin round really.

I didn't like Brisbane a lot so went to Surfer's Paradise which is on the Gold Coast just south of Brisbane. A lot better and within easy commuting distance.
