I'm looking to the gf out for a rare weekend off (for the both of us). We live in Chicago. We have done the Wis Dells thing and it's nice b/c we have our favorite B&B there but we'd like to change it up.
I'm not looking to break the bank either on this trip [Ideally 600-700, definitely could be less and would be ok if it's more, as long as it's worth it] As for interests, we were thinking at the very least some horseback riding. Possible some random B&B or a resort package (Dells-esque). Fishing and para-sailing were also brought up (we are newbies in both areas). Overall, something fun and unique oppose standard Dells trip. It can even be touristy trap area as well; we're not suckers but if the area has a lot of action there is fun to be had. Side note: we aren't really too outdoorsy -- so tons of hiking/scenery only like trips not really ideal.
Travel -- nothing to crazy via car, I'd be willing to do around 5hrs at most -- though if the place is right, I'd definitely do more
Some possible ideas -- lake geneva (I'm eh on the idea) or mackinac (don't see the allure for the travel)
Any hints or ideas would be grand!
(One requirement there has to be horseback riding b/c she has never done it -- doesn't have to be at the location but if you know a stable along the way, that works too)
