Sorry Katie I didn't see your message! All of our plannings and expectations sound the same. I'm a hairdresser, and our busiest time is December- and our tips are amazing alone and would contribute greatly......but I'm so ready to go, despite feeling sick to my stomach about it lol. Ive got to hand in my notice to my employer of 7 years at the end of the month :/ I think I'm more scared of telling her than going! Haha. Il keep you posted :) I'm thinking of booking my flights and hostels tomorrow :D x

haha "sick to my stomach” is the exact expression that I’ve been feeling... happy I’m not the only one because I thought maybe it was a bad sign, but I suppose it’s just really nerves. Wow 7 years... I understand that you are probably nervous, but I think your employer will be more upset than angry. If you’ve been there for 7 years, she may even be excited for you (given she’s not a bitch ha) and welcome you to come back afterwards. Where are you coming from V? And have you just googled and looked up hostels to start your trip at? I’ve looked at a couple but I’ve been told they are apparently known as “party” hostels... I’m not exactly going to Australia so I can get black out drunk every night and have someone throw up in my suitcase ha so I’m trying to search for some hostels that would attract people like me who want to eventually get their roots in a city, find work, meet friends, but also want to explore around oz and have a good time. I have to get serious and start the application for my work visa before I can even begin with booking flights and hostels.

Hey..

I'm going to Aus in November.. landing on 16th, and doing ozintro in sydney from 19th-25th.. then heading to melbourne to see family and also going to tazmania to see some friends but other than that no plans! Im going alone so scared too! Im going for a year, hoping to travel and work.
I'll be 19 when i go. Would be great to know a few people out there so we can meet up!?

Meg :)

Hiya,

I'm also going out in November on my own! So scared, I'm heading straight to the gold coast. I have a couple of friends going to Sydney, I'm hoping to work for a few months earn one more money then travel around, I'm a hairdresser to hopefully find a job quite easily! Hoping to meet a few people before in the same situation

Amy :)

Haha I'm hoping so Katie, it would be great to hopefully have a job for when I get back.....but urmmm yeah. She's a bitch lol. I think she's going to be more hacked off than anything for leaving her in such a shit position. I'm the assistant manger and a senior stylist and she telly relies on my business :/ but Hey ho. That's life right?! I'm traveling from the England :) I've looked into a few but most are the same, like you said. I've heard of a few that others have booked into so I'm just going to take the risk. I'm going to book my first hostel for a week and book one for 2 weeks over xmas a new year pronto because in sydney especially i know there filling up quick. Then see what's about inbetween and after. I feel the same. I need to focus on getting a job pronto when I get there so I can't be partying myself out because I'm scared my money just won't last!! I wouldnt worry too much about your visa just yet. Apparently it only takes 2 days to be approved?! I haven't got mine yet.....flights first :) that's the biggest step. Do it do it do it!! ;) xx

Hey meg
I looked into the oz into and it sounds great. You'll have a great time! :) it's a great way to meet people, I was very tempted but I think I'm going to just mingle into the crowds when I get there now and hope for the best lol.
I wish I had your balls when I was 19!! Lol
Xx

Heya Amy
Fingers crossed :) I've heard that hairdressers over there also get better pay than in the uk so that's a winner! Just ordered some new cheapish scissors to take with me so I'm all set :)
I know, it's so scary and so huge. But the more you chat to others the easier it seems to be :)

To all of you I'm on Facebook. Vicky burns. (I have a blonde bob and a cream lace dress in my profile pic) because I know there's a few. Be nice to see if any of us end up meeting up in the same places when were there :) x

hiya vicky.. I just friended you! :) I had a feeling you were from England, I dated a guy from Liverpool when I was in college (he played on the soccer team) and he always did the “x” haha.

I had no idea getting the work visa was that fast.... ahhh it’s pressure to book the flight then. Where did you book your flights? I’ve been looking at different airlines trying to find the lowest price... only scary thing is once you book the flight... you’re going!

.....and ive just accepted :)

haha! I had no idea that would give me away! Liverpool? Nice accent ;)

Apparently so. Ive just filled in an application and they will phone me tomorrow to make sure i qualify and finish the application hopefully. I booked my flights today in STA travel with malaysia airlines. I got a one way ticket for £566.....they were all around the same price really. I booked this one as one of the other girls on here is on that flight too.

if you write back fb me, its easier to check :) "x"

Hey girls, anyone flying from Heathrow to Sydney?

I'm 23, live in Kent, heading out to Aus end of Nov time/Dec, looking for a buddy for flights and maybe stay in a few hostels with once I get there!

Visa is approved for 12 months which is awesome, just need to book flights.

Hopefully speak to you soon!
