22 year old girl traveling oz alone!

Hey..

I'm going to Aus in November.. landing on 16th, and doing ozintro in sydney from 19th-25th.. then heading to melbourne to see family and also going to tazmania to see some friends but other than that no plans! Im going alone so scared too! Im going for a year, hoping to travel and work.
I'll be 19 when i go. Would be great to know a few people out there so we can meet up!?

I'm also going out in November on my own! So scared, I'm heading straight to the gold coast. I have a couple of friends going to Sydney, I'm hoping to work for a few months earn one more money then travel around, I'm a hairdresser to hopefully find a job quite easily! Hoping to meet a few people before in the same situation

Haha I'm hoping so Katie, it would be great to hopefully have a job for when I get back.....but urmmm yeah. She's a bitch lol. I think she's going to be more hacked off than anything for leaving her in such a shit position. I'm the assistant manger and a senior stylist and she telly relies on my business :/ but Hey ho. That's life right?! I'm traveling from the England I've looked into a few but most are the same, like you said. I've heard of a few that others have booked into so I'm just going to take the risk. I'm going to book my first hostel for a week and book one for 2 weeks over xmas a new year pronto because in sydney especially i know there filling up quick. Then see what's about inbetween and after. I feel the same. I need to focus on getting a job pronto when I get there so I can't be partying myself out because I'm scared my money just won't last!! I wouldnt worry too much about your visa just yet. Apparently it only takes 2 days to be approved?! I haven't got mine yet.....flights first that's the biggest step. Do it do it do it!! xx

I looked into the oz into and it sounds great. You'll have a great time! it's a great way to meet people, I was very tempted but I think I'm going to just mingle into the crowds when I get there now and hope for the best lol.

I had no idea getting the work visa was that fast.... ahhh it’s pressure to book the flight then. Where did you book your flights? I’ve been looking at different airlines trying to find the lowest price... only scary thing is once you book the flight... you’re going!

Apparently so. Ive just filled in an application and they will phone me tomorrow to make sure i qualify and finish the application hopefully. I booked my flights today in STA travel with malaysia airlines. I got a one way ticket for £566.....they were all around the same price really. I booked this one as one of the other girls on here is on that flight too.

Visa is approved for 12 months which is awesome, just need to book flights.

Hey everyone, there seems to be some really nice people on this convo so just thought I'd join in! By the sounds of it most you girls are looking to work while you're away? Are you looking to do some traveling as well?

I'm just going traveling as have studies to carry on with at home so can only afford to take a short break (well I'm planning on 4 months which actually doesn't sound so short when you think about the traveling alone!)

It's so nice to read that there are so many other people who just go for it by themselves, as when I first had the idea of going traveling, it wasn't feasible for my friends and the initial thought of going by myself just scared the hell out of me, but I think I've decided that if you don't just go for it you'll never end up doing it!

Anyways if anybody does fancy a chat then add me on FB, Chelsea Emett (quite an original name and I'm sure I'm the only one!) Would be lovely to just talk to people who are going away by themselves, get any advice from anyone who's already been away!!

And I so did not realise that was such a British thing with the 'x', I do it after every message (even accidentally to my boss!!!) without even thinking!

I totally agree, this forum is great and there are some lovely people I've spoken to already and I only joined today!!

I am going to Aus just to travel, I have the whv just as a backup in case I want to stay longer than 3/4 months and work a bit to supplement waning money!!

When are you thinking of going out there, and which city first?
