Hi,

I am Satter Mohammed Anowerul Kabir from Dhaka, Bangladesh.

I have applied for the skilled job seeker VISA in Norway. In this regard I made a hotel reservation in Oslo. But recently The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) has changed something regarding accommodation:

“Documentation that you are secured housing for the period the application covers. This can be a rental contract which covers the whole period of time you are applying for a residence permit for, or the deed (legal document proving ownership) for the housing. If you are going to live in somebody else’s home you must hand in a written, signed confirmation from them, as well as your host’s rental contract or the deed of his/her housing. It is not sufficient to hand in a rental contract which covers a shorter period of time than the whole period of time you are applying for a residence permit for. It is also not sufficient to document that you have a hotel booking.

01. “Rental contract which covers the whole period of time you are applying for a residence permit for”:- I would like to know if it is possible for you to manage this for me.

02. “The deed (legal document proving ownership) for the housing”:- I would like to know if it is possible for you to manage this for me.

03. “If you are going to live in somebody else’s home you must hand in a written, signed confirmation from them, as well as your host’s rental contract or the deed of his/her housing”:- I would like to know if it is possible for you to manage this for me.

04. “Lease agreement (in case of tenancy) approved by a landlord, housing association, or another person who is in control of property”:- I would like to know if it is possible for you to manage this for me.

I have no idea about the procedures of renting an accommodation in Norway as you know I had never been in there before. I would like to know if any of the above four options are manageable for me from your side or do you know somebody who can help me in this regard. If possible pls send me all the necessary documents with proper seal & signature regarding accommodation whichever is applicable for you among those above four requirements & I will pay the bill or bear the whole expenses after I will get VISA or after going to Norway. But it should be affordable or reasonable & I will send those documents to Embassy of Sweden, Dhaka, Bangladesh for verification. If the Embassy approves those documents I will pay the bills according to the Norwegian rules & regulations. This accommodation may be for me only or a group of two to three persons & must be for six months (01 November, 2012 – 30 April, 2013). Also it must be cheap / reasonable.

It could be in any city / town in Norway.

If you need anything else (/ any documents) regarding this accommodation / rental contract from my side pls let me know urgently. I am interested to pay after reaching in Norway rather than in advance. But if my application is rejected permanently by the UDI pls refund my full amount if needed to pay in advance. Besides if you have any suggestion pls let me know.

Waiting for your kind and prompt reply.

Thanks and best regards,

Satter Mohammed Anowerul Kabir

Is this regarding some accommodation you booked on Travellerspoint?

No, I booked a hotel apartment for two nights (01 & 02 November, 2012) in Oslo by hostelworld.com. But UDI website mentioned that only hotel booking is not sufficient to get VISA. You need entire period booking (06 months: 01 November, 2012 - 30 April, 2013) with rental contract / deed / lease agreement (whichever is applicable for me) from the landlord.

Pls help me to solve this issue. This is very urgent. Thanks

There's not really anything we can do to help. We are neither the booking provider, the Norwegian government or the property you made a booking with.

Have you tried getting in touch with the property you made the booking at? Their contact details should be in an email you received from Hostelworld.

To be honest, I'd have deleted this post as it almost looks like a scam.

I guess you are just trying to get some assistance, but NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND should ever put up the money for this in advance. The risk here should be yours. There's been a lot of cases documented in the media here recently regarding people abusing the 'skilled job seekers' visa (kebab shops employing 5-10 skilled managers from abroad in a 6 month period for example), so I can understand that they have maybe put some more regulations in place. They also seem unreasonable in the case of people that don't know anyone in Norway, but I think most people they are trying to stop actually do know others here that could help them with these documents.

If you don't know anyone here in Norway, and don't already have a job lined up, I think they are looking for you to show a certain level of commitment to coming here, so you would have to pay/arrange for these things up front.

Thx for ur reply. But the fact is I want to rent an accommodation for six months. It should be reasonable / cheap. Pls give me any contact information regarding this issue or send me rental contract or something like that. Also let me know payment procedures. It will be better if I pay after getting VISA / reaching Norway. If u need anything else pls let me know urgently. I need to submit these docs to the UDI.

Why don't you contact a company that does long term rentals? This is your visa application, not mine... Cost for 6 months at a cheap shared room in Oslo probably starts around 30 000 NOK, but I'm not sure they'd have shared rooms available. You might want to get in touch with a bunch of hostels etc and see if you can book directly with them at a discount for a longer period. I'd still expect you'd be looking at 30k NOK minimum though :(
