vagabond has indicated that this thread is about India

When people think of India they think of Khajuraho, banaras or goa. If you are going to India just for the exploration, I'd suggest you to go to Gujarat. The state has some really beautiful places. I am sure there are websites that give more information about the state and its tourism.

In the western most part of the state, there is an area called Kutch. It has the largest (and probably the only) salt desert (called Rann of Kutch) in the world, the only sancturry of the wild ass (as in donkey :) ), some great cultural places and most of all amazing sea shores. I have lived in a sea shore town for 17 years and I can tell you it is one of the best I have ever seen. The USP of this shores is that on weekdays the whole sea shore could be vacant except you and the people with you! And whats more? The area is pretty safe too!

If you need any more information about this place, email me. I aint an travel agent or somethin but I could definitley help you out.

Thanks for the tips- Is it easy to get from one place to another? We are flying into Bombay or Delhi (not sure yet)in June, what is the best way to go from place to place? Also, do you know if there is camping allowed? Thanks-

Well, that depends on where you are planning to go. Usually if the place is well known the travelling isnt much of a problem.

The best way to go from place to place is by trains. Most of the trains nowadays have air-conditioned coaches, which are quite comfortable.

Almost all the places in India, can be reached by busses. Though they are not very comfortable.

If you are planning to go to the place I talked about, Kutch, the best way is to go to Bombay and take a train.

There are very few places which have designated camping grounds. however in many place, you can pull a tent and camp just like that.

I might be able to help you better if I knew your itinerary - I mean whatever you have planned- or travel stops.

Have Fun!
