All I've got is the guacamole. Day-old guacamole, at that...

Hey, is anyone up for a martini????

Did anyone say martini? TGIF!!!! I am up for that right now!

Shake away!

I haven't yet been able to drink more than one and a half martinis in a sitting. I love them, but they're like a knock to the head. Even after that one and a bit (of a VERY tasty sample), the floor kept wobbling all over the place. At least I found it funny... hee hee!

I have yet to meet an online friend. Actually I dont have any except the people here. I think it will be great but may be either pleasantly surprised or just the opposite. Lets not hope for the latter. Pass me some chips tway!

This is my first group of online acquaintances/friends also. Yes, Tway, anonymity does free one of constraints and allows them to be more open about themselves. I'm wondering, since you say you have a tendency to be shy, would that shyness kick in if you were to actually meet one of us? And, how would any of us react to it since we know you're really not that shy? More food for thought.

I know what Anne, Joz and I would do - find the nearest martini bar.

Damn, you guys are fast today! I have to stop with the diatribe stuff and keep up. Okay, so we'll have to monitor Anne's intake or just watch her play Weeble (Weeble's wobble but they don't fall down...)

Sorry, make that monitor Tway! Brain not connected to eyes today!

"...You promise? ..."

You'll probably do ALL the talking Anne, because you are going to be just blown away by AMAZING Thailand. It's been doing tourism for a long time. Every thing is easy to arrange. English is spoken widely enough for travellers. There's so much variety.

Thailand is like a second home to me. This will be about my tenth visit. It's just over an hour to fly from Kunming to Chiang Mai. I'm sure I can manage a "deep chat" if you like, but no psychoanalysis please. Leave all that at home. For the most part, you'll find me polite, charming, easygoing & worldly. Trust me?

You still haven't told me how long you plan to be in Asia, Anne

From Chiang Mai, you can do a day trip to the Golden Triangle (borders of Thailand, Laos & Myanmar). A visa for Laos can be arranged in Chiang Mai. It's possible to do a two day boat trip down the Mekong River to the world heritage site of Luang Prabang in Laos. It's got a funky kind of sophistication about it. Surf the web for more info.

Ciao

Isa, that's a great question. I honestly don't know. I find it hardest to break out of my shell when there's a very, very dominant person in the mix, or if there's a small crowd. But when there's that "click" with someone, it's an instantaneous connection and those things no longer seem to matter. I imagine meeting Wocca, for example, would be a humbling and peaceful experience - where one could talk or be silent or read or look out the window and feel perfectly right and at home. Just look how he gets us discussing up a storm!

But I've never met someone in person after talking with them for awhile on-line. Maybe it's an experiment to be tested! A martini or two certainly helps!!

Dammit! It's not even noon here yet! If I start now, within an hour I'll go from writing "Dear generous donor" to "Hey, man! Thanx for that big check. Got any more?"
