I've just spent 3 1/2 months in koh Tao doing my dive masters fantastic island but one of the most expensive in Thailand. I flew from London to Bangkok straight to Sami. If you get a taxi from the airport go to where the lompya is it will be cheaper than booking in uk. It's 600 baht takes 1 1/2 hours will stop at koh panghan then to mayhead if you havent booked anywhere to stay & want the night life & diving jump in a taxi and ask them to take you to sairee beach. As long as you don't arrive just after full moon you will be able to find somewhere to stay quite easily. Hope that helps

Hi,

I am Nikhil. I am also travelling solo and planning to be in Phuket ~ 7 nights starting from 15th Dec ... I can see that above thread is pretty old and really not sure whether anyone from above contributors is still following this .. But in case, if you are following this and would like to meet up then please send me a message ..

See you sometimes

Don't worry too much. You'll meet loads of people as long as you go and do whatever it is you want to do. Meeting with people from here should be good too. Thailand is easy and fairly cheap for the average traveller. I might be going around that time if I can get the time off work and have been many times before (hoping to spend some time climbing in Railay, maybe a safe scootering adventure and time to squeeze in my first time in Cambodia). You can get around easy and there are always scam artists out there but as long as you've got a handful of wits about you then you really need not worry.

Everyone here should think about going on the Travel Buddy forum and starting a little meet up there as so many people are saying they'll be in BKK around that time!

Oh and the most important thing to remember is to enjoy yourself :)

Nick
