Hi everyone really need some help asap as i am trying to book accomodation for around 6 days over new years in Sydney. I know it's late but i have only just decided to go to Oz for a month in December.

Ive tried the yha.com website but everywhere seems booked up.

If you have any suggestions or reccomendations it would be much appreciated

Thanks

Izaac

Hi Izaac,

You could try World Square Hostel not too sure what its like as I haven't stayed there before but fingers crossed its decent as Ive booked to stay there over new years :)

Generally speaking, the only properties still available at this point are those which require a minimum stay of 10 days, and/or are inconveniently located, and/or are outrageously expensive. Looking at the Sydney accommodation section here on travellerspoint, I see 3 properties available over new years when I search for 6 nights starting on the 28th, and that increases to 9 properties if I make it for 10 nights. Might be that one of them could be an option for you.
Otherwise, keep searching daily; rooms are cancelled all the time, so you might be lucky and come across one.

I'm faced with the same problem, but i think I may find somewhere to stay outside of sydney on the coast or something near a trainstation, or drive into sydney for xmas day and new years eve.

On the hostelbookers website there is availability from 29th December (minimum stay is 7 nights) at the hostel 790 on George which is right next to Sydney central yha. 6 bed dorm is coming out at around £260 which isn't too bad for new years. Fingers crossed you can find somewhere!

Sweet!! think we owe Kate a beer haha. Was really struggling.

Well i think i might stay in Bondi over Christmas then im getting to 790 on the 29th.

Ive no real plans for New Years but i definitely want to be around the arbour for Midnight. A friend of mine told me about a Boat party thats supposed to be really good.

Have you got any plans ? Are you travelling alone ?
