if you could open a bar, what kind of bar would it be? and who would you want to hang out there?

It would be a small, intimate bar, near the beach. In the day time i would play music like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol etc. At night some funky house grooves would go on. I don't care who would drink there as long as they were having a good time. If they start causing trouble i would have a shark pool round the back that they would be thrown into James Bond style.

nice daveh, i would like to come to your bar. i like small bars. my favorite in my town is this small dive bar that serves popcorn, and has karaoke nights. but having the bar by the beach sounds much better. ah. cant wait for happy hour.

you would be most welcome. Unfortunately, i would have to put a limit on the amount of karaoke. I fear that if i am spending a lot of time at the bar being exposed to a large amount of karoake, then the men in white coats would soon be carrying me off to an asylum.

I've been thinking about this one for years!

An old average sized victorian building. The outside would have roses growing up it, the walls would be white and there'd be a very old creaky sign that read "The Pirates Brew" hanging outside.
Inside it'd be all wooden beams in black, with teak and mahogany coloured walls. Dotted around everywhere would be maritime memorabilia, all over the ceiling there'd be rope rigging.
There'd be a few comfy benches along with some tables, there'd be
a fair sized alcove with hops hung around it for the folk bands to play. There'd be a log fire somewhere. And i'd have a golden retreiver dog walking around. We'd only serve great ales and wine
oh and rum ;)
Only old men and cultured quiet students would enter my pub.

A small place on the beach, perched up on a wharf over the water. A small dive operation at one end, sailing and deep sea fishing charters on another. Since Mr. Isa will be there, possibly a small brewhouse on premises (he's a brewmaster after all). The music will be ecclectic, the patrons will be a mix of visitors and locals, all telling stories to each other. The beer will be tasty, the cocktails delicious and the food will consist of homemade soup and sandwiches (made with homemade bread). Baskets of peanuts in the shell will be on every table. Oh, it will be two-story, with the first floor just slightly above water level and the second with a great view out over the ocean. There will be small buckets of food for feeding the fingerlings living under the wharf. If lucky enough, there will be reef just off shore for snorkeling.

Anyone know of a place like that for sale???

I drank at a very similar place in Melbourne, Florida. It was on the pier, and people would keep walking by (really, through the bar) with fishing poles on their way to the end of the dock.

for me it would be a small converted farm house with a thatched roof on the side of a mountain with a large lake at the base, it would be slightly hidden from view by being situated in a forest, the customers would be a mix of locals and tourists that heard about it through word of mouth, the music would depend on the crowd and mood, one corner would be set up with loads of cd's etc and is laid back so just pick what you want and set it up, it would have a roaring fire one end that people could get so comfy beside that they never leave, on the other side the wall would be knocked out to have a huge bay window overlooking the lake, the bar wouldn't have set opening or closing times it just always seems to be open when you arrive, if you get too drunk theres a campsite out the back and a hostel in the loft......
