My husband and I owned a bar for 18 years...honestly I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy;)
The view is much nicer from the OTHERside of the bar.
Although some of the ideas you all have put forth sound smashing!

Quoting MattXIII

Only old men and cultured quiet students would enter my pub.

That's too bad, Matt - I was looking forward to visiting your pub, but I'm neither an old man nor a student. I can be cultured and quiet...

A small dive operation at one end, sailing and deep sea fishing charters on another. There will be small buckets of food for feeding the fingerlings living under the wharf.

There won't be any fishing allowed from the wharf either. I'd hate to feed the little guys living under it just to have them be someone's dinner. That's why there'll be fishing charters instead.

I would have a waffle bar.

A person comes up to the bar - decides on a waffle (regular, vegan, whole-wheat,etc) - choose some toppings. Then there are an array of differnt tables to sit at, kind of in differnt clusters so people don't seperate themselves - which tends to happen.

Would there be alcohol accompanying the waffles?

Would there be alcohol accompanying the waffles?

Mr. Isa's suggestion is ...

1) waffle schnapps
2) bock waffles

Hmm... well maybe distilled maple syrup?

It would be a wine and fine beer bar by night and a relaxed cafe by day. People would travel to visit the place because of its excellent reputation for serving only the finest beverages. The walls would be covered with pictures from wine regions around the world and articles praising the virtues of my bar.

In the meanwhile, I would be traveling around the world's wineries and breweries sourcing the best the world has to offer. Someone else can run the place. Interested, Joz?

I'm not interested in evening work at all anymore. Aggressive drunks full of booze & bad manners aren't my favourite kind of company
