THANKS MATT! Let me know when you open it, I'll be sure to be there for the opening. I'll bring Mr. Isa too! (He's not really old either - or a student - but like me, can be cultured and quiet. Plus, he makes beer for a living - lots of it. You'll have stuff to discuss and Gelli ( the ale hound) will have to be there too.)

You are more than welcome to come to our little beach bar, just don't plan to fish off the wharf.

Mr. Isa here...

Matt, is that amber or pale ale???
I have a little drinking experience - I start tasting at 6am. It's just a job.
No, I don't smell... like beer.

Mrs. Isa here...

Vote for the Pale!
Yes, Gelli is another beer hound. I think we have the makings of an interesting competition here... Challenge away, my friend.
No, he doesn't smell... like beer - more like roses. (I'm biased.)

"My dog has no nose."
"How does he smell?"
"Awful!"

(Thank you Monty Python... Careful, that's the most dangerous joke in the world.)

Hahahahaha, sorry Mr Isa

That would be amber for me im afraid. It's got to be a nice thick fruity ale for me. Something that isn't bursting with flavour but has a unique sort of sensation that makes you gulp loudly and thickly whilst easing back on your chair thinking......aaaahhhh.
As a man from Kent,UK, I'm biased to the thicker ales me coming from the hop county of england an all ;) If you ever get the chance to try a Shepeard Neame ale i'd seriously reccomend it. Batemans is another favourite of mine.

Didn't realise the US had real ales. Are you members of Camra?

Gelli i challenge you! Could be difficult considering the whole UK, Swedish different beer thing tho

You do know i'm British, don't you?

Swedish beer is, honestly, the worst in Europe (and yes, that is after extensive testing in every European country - more or less - and living in several). The stuff is barely average, but they do at least habitually importat some Czech and Danish stuff. Not great by their standards, but decent by lager standards, and a heck of allot better than the Swedish stuff.

Mrs Isa here...

I know we started this whole challenge thing... Maybe we should move it over to "Best Beer" thread before it gets out of hand... Then again, what the hell - let the rivalry reign!

Mr. Isa here...

Matt, no - not a member of Camra, don't make "real" ale. But, as a Brew Master, it's my job to start tasting the beer at 6 am, when I get to work. This goes on pretty much all day (kinda like your drinking experience with the tavern torcher). It's not just a job - it's a job.

Indeed, the Brits make fine, fine beer - I just happen to make German lagers. You should see it when the Master Brewers Association gets together - suffice it to say, lots of beer available. And, lots of arguments over who makes the best of the best... I WIN!

Cor blimey, i coudn't start at 6am. That'd just hurt. (admin, you should change that little smileys name from eek to wocca, lets try it :wocca: )

German lagers are great, we have a pub called dirty nellies that's a samuel smith brewery, only does german/austrian lagers. I would try and tell ya what those beers are but the names are too crazy to be able to spell.

Quoting lovelee

if you could open a bar, what kind of bar would it be? and who would you want to hang out there?

Ever seen Coyote Ugly? I know, I know, it is a cheesy movie and I am even more cheesy for admiting having seen it. But my bar would be loud, fun, where there is a nice decent dancing show for the patrons and everything goes...well, just about everything. And...you wouldnt be allowed to order water.

On the other hand, I would also love to have a nice, classy martini bar in Soho, New York where all the classy ladies of TP can come and male bash at their leisure.
