going to malaysia for three weeks on the way home from australia, in august, any ideas on where to go, what to do etc???? on a budget so cheap is good! any help would be appreciated.

Hey, I would definately reccomend the Perinthian islands, they were for me much better than the Thai islands, more secluded, cleaner and the diving is really great! You get to them by speed boat and the night life is really personal cos it's quite small you can get to know people better.

Yes to the Perhentians! Super cheap diving, great diving, nice people, pretty beaches. The little island has more of a party scene than the big island.

I went to travel agencies yesterday in Kuala Lumpur - now they offer quite a number of program in Pulau Redang (very expensive), Pulau Perhentian and the low-profile Pulau Kapas! Other island may try on Pulau Tioman, Pulau Langkawi, Pulau Pangkor, Pulau Tebrau and Pulau Ketam. if you wush to go to Borneo , Pulau Sipadan (expensive), Pulau Layang-Layang (expensive too), pulau .....

Perhentian hands down - head to Kecil island (small island). It can very busy there, but you can book some of the higher end accomodations in advance. I dont dive, but its supposed to be the best in the region - the snorkelling was amazing. Met many people there who had planned to stay 5 days and ended up there for 3 weeks. I cannot recommend it enough.
