here goes........something I have always wanted to do was see Australia and New Zealand so I have decided to give it a go. So on the 27th December my rucksack and I leave bonny Scotland for 3 months (maybe longer) for new experiences and adventure on my own and thats as far as the plan has gotten so far.
If anyone can give me some guidance as how to meet people while I am in OZ, the best places to visit and also if anyone can recommend any group tours would be much appreciated fellow travellers
I think Melbourne is the great destination in OZ. I had visited OZ in last summer vacation with my friends and was great experience.
Im from Glasgow and travelling to Melbourne on my own on the 9th of Dec, im a bit nervous but looking forward to it.
How long are you going away for? Have you checked out ant group tours? I did an 18 day group tour last yeat in Thailand and ir was amazing and I met some new friends for life. So I am thinking I might do the same in oz. I have found one for a week, which woulf hopefully let me get to know folk and maybe find a travel companion.
Melbourne sounds like a good place to start. I dm also thinking about visiting Perth and Darwin!
A Kiwi here....
In terms of diversity there is more to see in NZ, so if coming to both don't think you need more time for Oz than NZ... Backpacker type tours are a great way to make new friends without blowing the budget... Places to see in NZ:
Bay of Islands
Te Papa (Wellington)
Kaikora (Whale watch)
Christchurch (Earthquake damaged)
Queenstown (You will need at least a week here)
You would need at least month...
