When telling stories, how animated do you become? Do you use different voices and mannerisms?

I'm all over with the hands, too. I was once speaking this guy and he was watching my hands instead of my eyes. That's when I noticed how all-over-the-place my hands get. His eyes were darting left, right, up, up, down, left...

depends on the stories, i tend to be quite expressive and wave my hands which ever way the wind blows anyway so if its a great story the rest of the body kicks out too, i was telling a story to my niece the other day so seeing as she's nearly two that meant acting it out (from dancing like a princess, roaring like an ogre, galloping like a stallion and then jumping off a burning building ( my poor legs ) , she has a wild imagination and kept shouting thats not how it ends... which meant more crashes and bangs ) but also with my friends i've been told i can go a bit crazy and accidently hit one when i was trying to demonstrate a move i saw in a kung fu movie...

I worked as a tourist guide during one summer, and the theme for the exhibition was "Stories & Legends of the World"...

During the interview, all the wanna-be-guides where sitting around the table, telling one after the other the story of their choice... When it was my turn, I HAD to stand up to explain them the "super-great" story of the two shoes named Claude and Jeanette... (I get over excited with stories that people don't usually find so fun... until I tell them the REAL meaning of it!! ;) )

... and, oh yeah, I got the job and had nice tips!

The Lord Of The Rings trilogy seems to have got it right with ther animated story-telling
