Travel Forums Europe Working Holiday Visa in Uk for Aussie...Advise Please

Hi,

Im 24yrs old, aussie and am planning on applying for a (youth) working holiday Visa for the UK arriving in Europe by June 2013.

Ive tried to research how to apply for the Visa and the requirements etc and I'm wondering if there is an official website I can go on to apply as there are different sites with advise and I dont know if I trust them or not. Or should I go to a travel agent to sort this out?
Also I read somewhere that you need to send your passport to Manila for processing for the Visa and they send your passport back in the mail. If this is the proceedor how do I best ensure my passport gets back to me in the mail?...I wouldnt want to lose it :/

Also if you have a working holiday Visa do you need to work a minimum period and can you move around freely for the 2 year visa period in and out of europe with out any issues?

Anyone with advise?

Cheers,
Casey

Hey Casey,

This is the official immigration site that should have all the info you need for a WHV: http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/working-holiday.htm

Here's the link to apply for it online (costs about £180): https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/visas/applyNow.do?form=WHM

If you work for 3 months doing agricultural work, such as fruit picking, you can apply for a 2nd year visa.

Hope this helps!

Josh x:)

That's for people going on a working holiday to Australia - the OP is going the other way and heading to the UK from Australia.

This is the official website information on the working holiday visa for the UK (nowadays known as the "youth mobility scheme"). It has all the details on how to apply and conditions of visa.

Thanks Ill take a look.

Where can I do fruit picking in the UK? I thought the WHV was for 2 years? or is it up to 2 years if you do fruit picking?

Cheers

Again, fruit picking applies to visitors TO Australia.

As per the link from mojorob the youth mobility scheme allows Australians to live and work in the UK for 24 months.

Good luck!
