TravelChas has indicated that this thread is about Brazil

I may have the opportunity to volunteer in Recife, Brazil. I've heard the city is rough. I want to know the impression other travellers had of the city, but I'm most interested in hearing what people who spent more than a few days their have to say.

Hey, I spent just over a week there,

I wasn't very impressed but then I had quite a limited view of the city, I met some other people when I left who had been volunteering there and really got into the city which is great.

First impressions, pretty dirty, rough not that many redeeming features in terms of things to see and do as a first time tourist.

Well I wouldn't choose to go there again, and if I had volunteering opportunities I would definately choose another city.

But as I say, I had a very superficial experience of it.

happy planning
