dan1man has indicated that this thread is about USA

Can I get some suggestions on where to go in Maine for good sightseeing, moose, fishing, etc. I will be traveling alone and camping in my Xterra, although I may want to find a hotel or inn to get a shower or two. I plan to be in Maine from Sptember 25 to October 3 or so. I will also be hauling my mountain bike.

Hey! I live in Maine for the summer months and I can definitely help you out on where you'll definitely see some moose. US Route 201 from Skowhegan to the Canadian border is known as "Moose Alley" and you should definitely see some there. Also, ME State route 16 from Rangeley to Eustis in the Rangeley Lakes Region is where I have always seen at least 2-3 moose when driving through. The best times for seeing them are near dusk.

Hope this helps you out - and enjoy the great state of Maine!

Thanks for the tip! I was in Maine a few years ago in the Bar Harbor area and loved it! I was hoping to see a moose on that trip but had no luck. So when I go this time, I will wait around for as long as I need to until I see one. Can you tell me if there are good places to park and sleep (campgrounds, etc.) or just pull over and zonk out?

Hey! Maine is full of campgrounds, a lot of which look really nice. There are a lot of places that will still be open in Sept/Oct in the Greenville-Moosehead Lake Region of Central Maine. I have a cottage in York County and haven't had to go camping when I'm up there. Enjoy your trip!
