Hi so new to this!

My names Kat I'm 29 and have just booked a flight to Melbourne arriving 15th March 2013!! Got a year working holiday visa and scared to death! The vague plan is to travel up the east coast hopefully getting 3 months agricultural work in before I'm 30 to qualify for a 2nd years visa! Would absolutely love to hear from anyone arriving at the same time. Any advice on getting a job, the best place to stay etc.

Many thanks x x x

Hi lxi,

Thanks for the reply, so are you already there? What's your plan? Are you just travelling and watching the f1 or are you picking up any work? Thanks for the tip about the 2nd whv, must've read it wrong! Would be fantastic to be in touch with anyone and hear there plans and stories.

Hey Kat, me and a mate are heading to Melbourne mid-January and staying for 2-3 months, plan is to stay in a hostel for the first week or 2 and then get a house share or a flat for a couple months, then leaving and travelling up the East coast. No idea what we're gonna do about jobs, got WHV's so will just try get as much work as possible to top up the savings! How long you gonna be staying in Melbourne for?

Hey! January! Time is gonna fly bet you're both really excited. Please stay in touch and let me know how you settle in. Yeah going to book in to a hostel for a week or so then hopefully find a house share and a job for a bit. Looking at st kilda at the minute. Whereabouts are you starting off? No set plan whatsoever, really want to see and do as much as possible, don't want to stay in one place for too long but who knows might fall in love with Melbourne. Where are you guys from? What sort of jobs are you hoping to get? Really want to try the agricultural stuff but not sure if ill hack it being used to sitting in an office all day! x x

Hey guys, I am travelling to Melbourne in January 2013 alone and staying with my older sister for a month while I look for work and hopefully a room in a shared house with some cool new people. I hope to do some work either in St Kilda, Toorak or Fitzroy North. I am hoping to stay in Melbourne for a few months and then travel up the East coast and maybe go to New Zealand towards the end of my 12 months :)

Hey! Have looked into greyhound bus passes not heard of the oz experience ones. Just had a quick look they do seem a bit more exiting.... Jasmine you will have to let us know what it's like when you get there. January isnt long at all now. What's everyone thinking of packing??!! x x

The Oz experience pass is basically a hop on hop off bus pass so your transport is pretty much sorted for you! One less thing to worry about at least!
