Does anyone plan on being there around this time, and understand the language? I am from NYC and don't understand anything in japanese! I did download a few japanese apps for my phone that speak phrases in case i am in dyer need of help, but i was specifically looking for someone who could show me a good time... and help me with the language barrier. I am a 25 year old male, and super excited!!!!...... spur of the moment purchase
I managed in two trips to Japan without speaking the language as I have managed similar in many other countries too. it is no problem there, and a number of the people you come into contact with as a tourist will speak English. There are quite a number of English signs about too.
The train and subway system is easy to use (just watch others) but make sure you have a card with the location of your accommodation with you in case you get lost.
Tokyo is expensive but lots of mini marts about where you can buy food and drink at not too high prices.
Not really a lot in Tokyo itself for the tourist so look at some other destinations, by rail.
