My friend and I are planning to have a tour to Tibet, but informed that we cannot travel in Tibet independently, instead, we must apply for a permit and have a tour guide escorted every day. Is that true? If anyone having any idea relating this topic please suggest me.

it is true that u cannot travel tibet indipendently .but u can travel in minimam group of 6 persons with a organised tour opreters. some tour opretores of kathmandu(nepal) organised thease tours . they can manage u r tibet visa on spot.

You'd better go with experienced friends or tour guides, or it would be rather hard for you to tour Tibet.
