Hey guys,

Never joined one of these forum sites before but I though I would give it a go.. Im a 29yr old female and have been busting my balls at work so much over the past few months that I thought id give myself a break and go travelling.. I have never been abroad on my own before and am now getting pretty nervous/excited about it..
I have booked my flights, my Visa has been approved and I fly out to Sydney on the 6th of Jan and plan to travel up the East Coast to Cairns over 6 months.

I havnt made any solid plans or have any real ideas of what im gonna do when im out there, im a pretty sociable person and love a laugh and so if any of you out there are like me and know youre flying out to Oz but after that have no idea, then please reply and we can either maybe arrange to meet for a drink out there and see if any of us have come up with any bright ideas!!

Anyway Take care and no matter what you do make sure you have fun!!

Hey Gem,

Yes i'm exactly like you, i've booked a flight to sydney and that is it...there's a few people that i will be visiting whilst i'm out there but that is all. I fly in to sydney on the 28th december and will still be there when you get there so i'm always up for a drink and meet up.

Georgie

Hey Georgie

Thanks for the reply. I dunno what made me write Sydney on my previous post cause I'm actually flying into Melbourne on the 6th lol! Wow maybe I shouldn't be let out on my own eh.
How long are you in Oz for cause Sydney will be my next stop and would love to meet up and see a friendly face and know there is someone else out there who hasn't got a agenda planned out yet?

Hey Gem,

Im pretty much the same except your one step closer than me as youve booked your flights.. im still toying with Sydney or Melbourne in mid january time. Probably swaying more towards Sydney and possibly doing Ozintro or UltimateOz for first week, more to meet people than anything else. as even though ive been before and really excited, im also starting to get really nervous eeek! Let me know how your getting on, you never know we might end up in same place at same time.. Pub anyone?:)

Georgie - I'm planning on 6 months aswell, I've got a open ended plane ticket valid for 12months but work has only allowed me a 6 month break so will have to be back by the 1st of July at the mo. so I'm sure at least at one stage we will can arrange to be in the same place for a few drinks and see what the score is. So your out there for NYE that will be pretty amazing! You got plans for that? X

Clare - Hey Hun, just book the flights an the rest will just come easy lol, I am such a creature of habit at home and usually know exactly what I'm doing cause I work 12 hour shifts so I'm bricking it having NO plans atall for when I get there! I will prob be in Sydney mid to late Jan so we should defo find a pub if we can and meet up! Drag Georgie along if she is around aswell, I personally know I would feel soooo much better if I knew I was meeting friendly faces at least once while I'm over there..

You will all be fine, just make sure you have plenty of dosh, in particular if you are not working or give yourself plenty of time to get a job.

It is expensive here.

Sounds good to me too! I've decided I'm gonna fly to Sydney and do ultimateoz the first week I'm there. The trips look amazing! I know some might think its a waste of money going through them when u can do it yourself and I'm not even really bothered that they do the bank/tax stuff for u as have done all that before but i do quite like the idea of having the first bit planned and organised for me so all I've got to do is rock up! Then take it from there.. I do long shifts too as I'm a nurse so I know exactly what u mean about having to plan life at home. Aus will be a nice change, just going with the flow, altho I will need to work too if I stay the year as it really is expensive!! Went to visit friends in north QLD last November and everything had tripled in price! (Gulp) will be worth it tho.
Where abouts are u? I'm just outside London, if your anywhere near we should meet up for drinks before u go.. Georgie u too xx
