Does anyone have any tried and true hangover remedies? All of the St. Patty's Day celebrations are leaving me a bit queasy. I suppose I should cut down on the alcohol consuption, but what fun is that? ;)

a lot of fluids - preferably water. Some drinkers prefere soft drinks (coke) to bring back gut balance.

I think soft drinks just dehydrate you more. Water is the best thing, lots and lots of water.

Or for me I would just not drink... its the best way to beat a hang-over.;)

I always used to start the day with a bowl of vegetable soup after a night on the beer and it seemed to work for me. Sadly, now i'm a bit older the only cure seems to be about 3 days in bed feeling sorry for myself.

For nausea, boil equal parts water and orange juice, then add a ton of salt. You're supposed to drink it by the tablespoon, but a shot glass-full (if you can stomach the memories) will do.

according to some of my neuroscience friends who are researching a hangover antidote with actual government research grant money(??!), dextemethorphan hydrobromide, the active ingredient in Robotussin DM--an OTC cough suppresant found in US--is a powerful antihangover secret! i've yet to try it out...but anything works better than rolling around the sheets, feeling the rise and fall of the day-after.

we used to drink Robotussin DM by the bottle in college for the fun of it but thankfully, i've gotten past those days ;)

fuj

another common method is drinking small amounts of a weak beer. In some european countries they drink sour milk (contains a little of alcohol)
