I'm off to Argentina and Chile on the 15th of December. I have a few days in Buenos Aires before I hope to head down to the Patagonia region. Bariloche (sp) is also one of my hopeful destinations.
What are people's best recommendations on what to do down there? I want to go to El Calefete (sp, again!) and do the W walk.
What are the best ways to get down there by bus or coach?
I spent many months in South America, I recommend looking into the NaviMag Ferry, as you're heading north, from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt...I also recommend you visit Torres Del Paine...how far south you going?...Ushuia/Punta Arenas (where you can visit Isla Magdalena, the largest penguin colony, not much but worth to say you went)....
buses are very comfortable, for the extra long trips I recommend you spend the few dollars extra and get the cama seats...my longest ride was from south argentina to buenos aires, 36 hours total...flights are reasonable but it was great to say I saw that whole region, though south argentina is rather boring scenically...very flat pampas....
once again, def look into the NaviMag, lot's of fun, take your own liquor if you so desire!
