Please Help!!

Im a 23year old male looking to travel the East Coast of Australia from Sydney to Cairns at the beginning of January to get just a taster of a backpackers life, although i only have 10days to do so. Therefore i was wondering which travelling option would be more preferable for me considering i would like to stop off at around 4-5 different locations such as Byron bay, Airlie Beach, Noosa, and Whitsundays!

From the research i have been doing it seems, the oz experience bus sounds more fun but a bit too much like a tour and therefore you are stuck visiting places you might not be interested in visiting, especially for me considering ive got a limited time scale to do so.

On the other hand i have heard that they Greyhound Bus is a bit more frequent and more flexible, but the bad side is that its more of a public bus and therefore less likely to meet other travellers, considering i am travelling alone meeting new people is a must.

Also, any ideas on good hostels to stay at at any of the locations mentioned?

Please Help me make the right choice and have the best time in along the east coast!

I used the Greyhound to travel from Sydney to Cairns and although I didn't really meet other travellers on the buses I met loads in the hostels so it wasn't an issue. I didn't fancy Oz experience as it sounded too much of a party bus for me, but it would certainly be a good way to meet people.

Thanks for the post!

Was it easy to get off and on the Greyhound bus in areas that you wished to stay at? Any places you went to that you would highly recommend?

Yes, I don't think I had any problems stopping when and where I wanted to. Apart from the places you mentioned, I really liked Great Keppel Island and Magnetic Island and also Mission beach, from where you can do some nice bush walks.
