Sam? Peter? Is there anyway we can edit our own posts...say if we accidently hit 'sumbit' without reading through first? (stupid spelling errors..typing too fast..brain gets ahead of our fingers type thing?)

Not for the moment. It's a possible change to make, although the ability to edit also means people can change what they said AFTER there's been an answer, which in turn can make the answer look stupid. For now, I like to think of it as a conversation where you can't take back what you've said ;)

That said, it would be pretty handy for the reasons you mentioned and might be added soon.

Peter,

I've actually thought about this too, but never bothered to tell you as I already have Edit functions in certain forums which I am a moderator.

Anyway, I understand your concern too. I believe that what has been said, had already been said. But there are definitely exceptions, like what Joz pointed out.

I think you could make it so that the author of the post can only edit it if it's still new. The edit function will only be available a few minutes (e.g. 5 min?). I think it's a win-win situation here.

Cheers,
Hien

Ahhh..I see your point Peter...never thought of it that way.(How it might affect what is posted after it)
What about if it has something like 'author edited after posting' or something to that effect? Kind of like it does after you edit??

Maybe also a "reason" ?

For example:

    ------------------------
    Edited by: X
    Date: March 14th 2005
    Reason: Spelling Error

HA! Did anyone else notice I spelled 'submit' wrong in the original post? and you all probably thought I was making a point or something;)!

Quoting Joz

"... Did anyone else notice I spelled 'submit' wrong in the original post?..."

Not really, because your meaning was quite clear. I did however notice that you spelt "spelled" wrong above.
