Well I've not been here very long but I was thinking about this today also, and Brendan's format gets my vote - that way you know if someone's changed a post and why etc, which stops it from abuse. Also, I'm pretty confused concerning spelt and spelled, some people tell you it's one or the other and some people say you can use both -I'm clueless.

"Consider the word "spelt," an older participial form of the word "spell." You almost never encounter "spelt" in the United States, but it is actually fairly common in England."

Just a difference between American and British usage - both are actually correct.

I like the British usage.

But an edit function would be handy. I'd just submitted a post in Off Topic when I realised that I wanted to echo what samsara said in an earlier post (sort of agree with her sentiments in that thread), but there wasn't an edit function.

I agree, unfortunately only the Almighty of TP have the option to edit or even delete (oh my!!) the threads.
