Hey to all :)

I'm planning to make a stop in Ratnagiri. Unfortunately I coudn't find a lot of informations about accomodations there. There are a few hotels but they didn't show any prices online.
And because I'm looking for something rather cheap, I prefer hostels or other accomodations than hotels. On google maps I found two hostels in Ratnagiri. But no internetsite or other informations about these two hostels. Therefore I have no idea how expensive they are, if there is still place or if these hostels still exist.

Is it easy to find cheap accomodation by arriving?
I'm worrying that it's stupid to go there without having an accomodation. Ratnagiri is between Mumbai and Goa and January is tourist season.

Maybe you can tell me what kind of accomodations India has. That I know what to google for ;)
Of course hotels and hostels. Do they also have pensions, motels, something like english Bed and Breakfast or french gîtes? Are there locals which offer a place to stay?
what are normal prices for cheap/normal accomodations?

Followup.
Acccommodations in Indian metros is generally very expensive - and ranges from USD 500 (for a 5 stars) to $60 (one star). But, if you are staying in small towns and dont mind the noise and dont ind roughing it (open windows, a few mosquitos, no shower or hot water, shared toilet etc.), you can find a place for 10-15 dollars a day. But, what is acceptable to you depends on where you are coming from.
Book before travel. Never let the small town touts "help" you find a place to stay! People are generally friendly and helpful, but slways looking to make a buck. So, watch out.
Hope this helps.
