Hey guys!

Currently in Bogota at the moment, resolving an issue with a lost passport. I've been here for two weeks now but should hopefully have the issue amended by the end of today!

The next venture my friends on I plan on making is to Peru (specifically to see Machu Picchu) and I'm just wondering what is the best/cheapest method of travel to get there?

I'm not interested in the trek as we're on a bit of a rushed schedule and one of the people in my party was involved in a motorcycle accident that injured his leg last year so a 4-5 day trek in high altitude would most definitely take it's toll on him.

So far I've come up with Bogota > Quito (~$75USD via bus sound right?), Quito > Lima (preferably by bus, but still not 100% sure on pricing as I keep seeing different prices), Lima > Cusco (again not 100% of the pricing, but the cheapest method would be the favourable option), Cusco to Aquas Calientes (perhaps via train?) and then finally a bus from there to Machu Picchu.

We're trying to run on a tight budget, so expensive tours etc. are out of the question for us at this stage.

If anyone has any personal experiences making this trip or at least knows of a cheaper/easier/safer method (even just a tip on the more reputable bus companies), let me know! I appreciate any help I get, no matter how big or small. :)

More about Peru

Peru's irresistible attraction is impossible to pinpoint: with its stunning Andean landscapes, large slice of tropical untouched rainforest and breathtaking remnants of one of the oldest ancient civilizations, it really does have it all and is spectacular.
