That's what my dad said when I told him I was dating a younger man. He asked if the man was over 21, if so, what the hell.

Like Sam, Mr. Isa is 8 yrs younger than me. I didn't know this until we'd been dating for several months - and by then - who cared! It's a been wonderful adventure!

My husband is almost 10 years older than me. Sure doesn't matter now..but it did when we started dating.

Quoting Sam I Am

There's 8 years between my wife and me (I am the younger of the two) and I don't even notice it....

There's 10 years between by b/f and me - with me being the older of the two. At first it raises an eyebrow (what, only men are allowed to date someone younger??), but it doesn't faze us so in turn people put their surprise aside. As I told him in the beginning "You wouldn't have liked me much when I was your age, anyway".

The only thing I can say about age differences is that it is probably not advisable for someone that is really young and havent lived enough, male or female, to get involved with someone 10 years or so older. Been there, done that. I was 18 going out with a 28 year old. At the time he seemed soooo much older but there were things I didnt noticed or refused to see, blame it on lack of experience and I was fooled. We are still friends 13 years later but I am so glad we didnt marry or pursue our relationship further. I still love him to death (as friends) but he is so no right for me, but only after probably 10 years I was able to finally recognize it and see all the signs...there is nothing like age and years of experience...who said getting old was a bad thing. I love it!!!

Now if you have a big age spread but have lived enough, knows who he or she is and what he or she wants, then it is a free for all...anything goes.

I can't disagree with you there, Anne - your theory is very sound indeed. I can only say that, when it comes down to it, there's no point worrying about how things might turn out somewhere down the road. As long as you don't hide your fears or skirt the issues, you may well miss out on something grand because it doesn't look right on paper.
