Am planning on visiting Australia later on this month / early February for one or two months. Am thinking of making my way up using the Greyhound from Melbourne to Cairns (or vice versa).
Would it be better to start from Cairns or Melbourne? Would Cairns (for snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef) be OK to visit in January / February as it will be rainy season?
Another question I have, is I want to visit Uluru as well, and maybe (depending on time / money) the west coast as well. How can I factor this in to my itinerary? I know you can fly to Alice Springs from most places (then book a tour to Uluru from there) but as flights are expensive I was wondering if there are cheaper options. I was actually thinking of doing the outback / Uluru first, if I arrive in Australia in January, so that by the time I do the east coast the Australian January holiday season will be finished (so hostels along the coast will not be fully booked, beaches will not be packed etc.). Would appreciate any itinerary / route suggestions.
Sorry for all the questions. Any help would be appreciated.
