My husband and I are planning to go to Florence for the month of June. We have our accomodations reserved, and I've been looking into flights from Orlando to Florence. Ouch! $1500+ is what I'm finding on Kayak and fly.com! The website "I Dream of Italy" is saying book now - prices to Italy are just going to climb from now on (for travel this summer)? What do you all think? Any suggestions to help us save some money will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I just checked Arkefly, which flies directly between Orlando Sanford and Amsterdam. I searched for the first date they travel in June and back the last day. Return is about 950 dollars. Between Amsterdam and Italy there are several budget airlines, like Easyjet to Milan.
In general, try searching for other airports than just Orlando or Florence.
I just tried Orlando and Rome for example for around 1200 dollars return. And Miami to Rome return less than 1150. At least in that last case it saves you 700 dollars together
Another general tip: try searching for different days, for example flying on Mondays or Wednesdays are generally cheaper than Saturdays.
