My body is of no use to me when I'm dead. Why waste money on it.

They can't bloody well toss it into the street! So what DO they do with bodies there??

Isa, that was beautiful. I love that!!! More so, because it was such a special place for you both...

Isa, I can't possibly say it better than Anne did...

Thanks guys!

My mother (before she passed) requested a phone be placed in the niche and another placed on a small table next to the sitting bench whiched faced their niche. She wanted to be able to call me and tell me what I was or wasn't doing right in my life. (Her words!) She didn't get her phone and I didn't have to hear about it. Besides, as the funeral director said - if he put the phone in, my dad would have to be stored somewhere else. He wouldn't have liked that!

Before anyone says anything...

YES, we had a very strange family - but fun!

Hahahaha, that is hilarious, great sense of humor. I think I am going to have to use that with someone just for kicks.

First: What is a niche?

Second: I wouldn't want to be creamed or buried... buried to seems a waste of space, and in cities no less? Anyone concerned with the ground water below? And I wouldn't want to be cremated, more because it take a LOT of energy to turn a full grown person into dust. If useing wood - it requires at least five to six based on the persons mass.

I guess that doesn't really leave many options... perhaps dump me in the ocean with some bricks tied to my feet?

A niche is a hole in the wall, a space to put something into it (or nothing at all) but a hole nonetheless.

Dead bodies do take up a lot of space and in this world we'll take all the space we can get! See what happened in Paris with the catacombs?

Oh Anne! That's what I call their niche and I get some pretty weird stares! But, it's true - it's just a hole in the wall with ashes in it. What can I say!

You get stares?? Isnt a niche a pretty common term??

Yeah, niche is a commonly used term but "hole in the wall" isn't and THAT'S what I call it - not niche. Sorry to be confusing.

ps: I'm better now. Thanks again.
