Hi all!, I'm currently planning to go to Australia in may time,
Im only going for a few months, or as long as funds last me,
Ive heard you can get odd cash in hand type jobs without the working visa?
Is this true?
I don't really want to use the working holiday visa for only a few months if i can help it!
Thanks in advance
I've seen TV programmes on the Australian customs service and even if you get through their questioning as they look for people like you, you are unlikely to get a job as they come down heavy on anyone employing foreigners without visas, and you will be on the next plane home if found out, and possibly banned from entering the country for a number of years.
Australia is an expensive place if you have little money. Get a working visa. Even then a job will only supplement your money. Don't expect to save money from it.
Whilst it is true you can get cash in hand jobs, its not really recommended... the best you could hope for is "fundraising" for charities (who allow you to be self employed and it is up to you to register an ABN and declare your earning) or some fruit picking for $10 an hour...
why not invest your cash in a working holiday visa, do your 88 days regional work by rotating a sign at the road works or working in a petrol station in the middles of nowhere and give yourself the opportunity of a second year WHV if/when you decide to come back for a longer time...
if you like it here in your second stint just arrange for a company to sponsor you to give you more time again...
Hey, thanks both of you,
This is exactly what i thought to be honest,
So it threw me abit when people were telling me not to bother with the visa.
I do think to be on the safe side ill just get it.
