Let me just second what's been said, a mac is SWEET (coming from the guy who just converted last year...)! After reading this post I set up my screen background, now it's a photo from my wedding which was the quickest thing I could lay my hands on. Noticed the iphoto slide show option too but think I'll make a seperate folder that is used then so it doesn't rotate through all the terrible shots that are still in there too :)

ps. plus the new mac mini's are a good computer for those thinking of their first mac. Not too expensive but with some extra RAM it's a good computer, especially considering the ilife pack that comes with it...

Haha it is not as though I sit and stare at my desktop!

If I had a mac I would put a fancy background on, but with a windows machine it is better to save every last piece of system resources you can!

Plus I don't like "real" pictures for a desktop.. maybe some art, or drawings or something, but not people I know... and certainly not a picture of me!

And on the topic of Apple, I am going get a Powerbook I think.. anyone have some experience with them?

I've got the 15" with some extra RAM. I'm never switching back to PC after I made that move...

Sorry - no powerbook but would like one...

I take photos and play in Photoshop to give them the "flavor" of artwork. I love playing with the filters and the end product can be just amazing.

Sam, I created separate folders for the slideshow screensaver feature. It works like a charm, you see only what you want and you can switch easily from folder to folder.

I haven't owned a powerbook, but I've worked extensively on them (and other Macs actually). They are really great. The one I worked on didn't shut down, freeze, etc even after 12 continuous hours on vieo editing. If It can withstand that, it can withstand anything! ;) If I were to get a Mac right now, it would definately be a powerbook. Not an iMac....those things are awful!

See, one more reason for the edit button...

I have a G4 (single processor) with 2 internal hardrives and one external - that doesn't want to work properly. I showed it - I turned it off. Now it's pouting.

I don't know about the new iMacs, but we gave Mr. Isa's mother one of the original ones and it works beautifully. Granted, she plays a lot of solitaire, but I PM it every few months and it's just keeps chugging away. I don't like that it doesn't have zip drive capability without being an external device. Guess I'm spoiled.

You youngens and your new-found technology ;)

Mac's aside.....the question is still up in the air...

What's on everyone's desktop?
