Hey guys,

I recently got back from a month trip to Thailand and Cambodia and I have already started planning my solo trip back to SE Asia. This time for much longer!

I plan on going to Thailand in time for Songkran 2014 than head north into Luang Prabang. After that I'm not really sure where to go. I think i might want to head south to Vientine but maybe I should go upto Hanoi. Is there other places in Loas that are worth seeing? My initial plan was to go to the Philippines than to Borneo, Indonesia, Singapore and upto Kuala Lumpur than back into Thailand for a some island fun. But I will probably skip the Philippines to go see south Vietnam. I also want to see more of Cambodia, but it seems like to do all this it will require me doing some crisscrossing in routes.

I'm just not really sure on a good route so I was hoping that someone can give me some advise. Since I am travelling solo, my plans are for sure going to change when i get there, but I would like to have some sort of rough destination list.

Thanks for the help!

Vietnam has always been my favorite, and this was proven once again on my recent trip in Nov-Dec. No doubt the main reason for my thinking is because the Vietnamese people are much more outgoing that the others I came in contact with on this trip (Bangkok, Vientiane, Luang Prabang and Hanoi).

Honestly, Vientiane did not excite me too much - I think there are more interesting places in Indochina. Luang Prabang was awesome as always, and Hanoi, always my favorite, was super friendly.

My advice would be to start in Vietnam - it's a little more difficult in many ways, but well worth the effort. My preference is for N. Vietnam. You have to remember that I'm on the far side of 60!
