Hello all,

Im also planning to go to Australia early next year and then possibly on to New Zealand.

still in the beginning stages of planning my trip but i will definitely be going no matter what!:)

I might have a few friends going too but if not then i would be cool to meet some new people to travel with.

ive not decided on where exactly i want to go, but i may start in Melbourne and just see what happens. if anyone has any recommendations let me know!

Hey Lauren
I'm also at the planning stage but got my WHVisa through the other day so I'm definitely going too. Sooo exciting!! I'm planning to start in Melbourne and end up around New Zealand. I'm looking at leaving the UK (London) around the end of Jan, do you have a rough idea of a date yet?

It's great hearing from people with similar ideas :)

Hi daniela,
I'm also in Hertfordshire close to stansted airport looking at leaving the UK around the end of Jan 14. Heading of to Melbourne first up the gold coast etc. would love to do New Zealand at the end of Australia. Thinking of staying for between 6/12 months depending on savings, work etc.
Great hearing from people doing similar!

:)

Hey Stacey!
I leave from Manchester on the 16th January & I arrive in Sydney on the 18th January :)
When are you thinking of going? And where are you flying from/to?

Thailand is definitely on the cards at some point. I keep adding countries on to the list of places I want to visit haha!
I'm pretty much open to going anywhere to be honest :)

Hi Sophie ("smpix"), thanks for writing back to me! I live near standstead too! :) been doing some thinking and think I'm gonna fly to Melbourne first, then do Sydney and then travel all up the Gold Coast and do Perth last. Looks like we're thinking of doing the same route and going around the same time and we live near each other, so do you want to add each other on Facebook or something? Would be nice to chat. :)

Hi Kelly and Everyone

I am leaving on October 20th going through Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Lao, Vietnam) then heading to Aus and NZ.

I am 23 and travelling alone, would be great to meet people along the way, feeling slightly nervous :/

Hi all

Just been reading through, just like to share my personal thoughts. I went out to Australia, January 2012 on a working holiday for a year on my own. Just reading through comments about travelling alone, and being nervous and worried about making friends. I was exactly the same, never travelled before on my own so I was bricking it.

Anyway soon as I arrived at my hostel my fears eased, people were friendly, from all over the world, everyone wanted to chat, as most people are in the same situation as yourself. The more people I met the easier it got, and before you know it you have mates within minutes.

My tip is, if your not used to travelling and nervous about not being able to meet people, I would suggest staying in smaller hostels, as there is more chance of seeing that person you talked to yesterday again today..if you know what I mean. I stayed in the Blue Parrot Sydney, it was expensive, but the atmosphere was great everyone went out together it was like a big family. From then on, any hostel will be easy even he big ones as you've gained confidence in making friends.

Anyway just a tip I thought I'd share, Anyway hope you all enjoy, Its an amazing place, so good that I want to return again to do the parts I didn't do last time. Highlights Fraser Island, Whitsundays and a little gem of a place called 1770.

Hi all!

Just joined this forum, I am a 22 year old male from UK looking to the East Coast of Australia, some point later on this year or very early next year! I would be travelling solo (some mates wanted to the same as me but they've bailed on me but I still want to go)...

I was thinking of flying to Sydney and making my way up the coast, would be great to talk to people in a similar situation! I would love to do like Thailand/Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos for like a month or whatever before but don't fancy doing that bit solo!

Anyone else got a similar plan? Be great to hear from some of you guys!

Cheers,

Olly
